The Internal Revenue Service is seeking comment on a new project to let nonprofit groups file their informational tax returns electronically, according to Midori Morgan-Gaide, the IRS official who is in charge of the project.
The IRS wants to know how many charities will use online filing when it becomes available, what barriers to electronic filing charities face, and what features or incentives would encourage them to file online, Ms. Morgan-Gaide said.
Comments should be sent in writing to: Internal Revenue Service, 1111 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20224, Attn: Midori Morgan-Gaide, T:EO. They may be sent electronically to tege-eo-efile@irs.gov.
