Jack and Barbara Nicklaus Donate $60-Million to Miami Hospital

Golf legend Jack Nicklaus and his wife, Barbara, are pledging $60-million for the Miami Children’s Health System, which will be renamed for the family, the hospital’s foundation announced today.

The gift will be made through their Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.

The donation will support construction of a six-story, 212,000-square-foot Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion, with three new family-centered intensive-care units. The pavilion is already in progress on the hospital’s main campus. The funds will also support emergency and trauma preparedness as well as the hospital’s heart program, cancer center, and brain institute.

This pledge brings the health system closer to its goal of raising $150-million by 2017 for its Together for the Children Campaign.

This isn’t the Nicklauses’ first gift to the hospital. The couple made donations of more than $5-million in 2010 and $7.5-million in 2014.
