Jewish Federation in San Francisco Cuts Staff

July 9, 2010

The Jewish Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma, as well as the organization’s Jewish Communal Fund, are laying off 33 employees, according to a blog item on The Fundermentalist, writer Jacob Berkman’s blog on the JTA new service’s Web site. A letter from the federation’s cheif executive, Jennifer Gorovitz, to federation employees, included in the news report, indicates the organization has also reduced grant allocations to the nonprofit groups it supports.
