Jewish Federation Lays Off Half its Staff

November 4, 2010

The Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, in Scottsdale, Ariz., has laid off more than half of its employees, writes the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix. Officials at the organization, which is in the midst of a capital campaign, said the cuts are the result of a drop in donations. A number of the nonprofit’s major donors died over the last year, and the financial health of other previous donors was affected by investor fraud.
