The Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, has received a $50-million grant to create separate business and education schools, reports the Baltimore Sun.
The money was awarded by the W.P. Carey Foundation, a private New York foundation started by William Polk Carey, a trustee emeritus at the university who made his fortune as head of an investment-banking firm.
The two new schools, the new Carey Business School and the School of Education, will replace the university’s School of Professional Studies in Business and Education and will start operating in January.
The business school is seeking to raise a total of $100-million and intends to raise the additional money from other donors, university officials said.
