Kidnapped Aid Worker in Afghanistan Released

Taliban forces in Afghanistan have released a French aid worker after holding him captive for five weeks, reports the Associated Press.
Eric Damfreville worked for the French humanitarian charity Terre d’Enfance. He and a female colleague were seized along with three native Muslims as part of a demand that France withdraw all troops from Afghanistan. The woman was released two weeks ago. And though Mr. Damfreville pleaded on behalf of his Afghan friends in captivity, there was no word on their fate.
The release comes in the midst of a number of attacks on charity workers around the world, especially in Sri Lanka and the Darfur region of Sudan.
