L.A. County Residents Top List of California Donors

January 3, 2007 | Read Time: 1 minute

A new report shows that residents of Los Angeles County gave nearly twice as much to charitable causes as people who lived in the rest of the state, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The findings, announced by the NewTithing Group, a San Francisco research organization, show that for people earning $200,000 or more, Los Angeles residents gave nearly $5,000 in 2004, the most recent year for which data were available. That figure represents about 1 percent of a tax filer’s investment wealth for people at that income level.

Other parts of the state, including San Francisco and Silicon Valley, gave at a level of about 0.5 percent of investment wealth.

The full report, “California Wealth and Giving,” is available online at NewTithing’s Web site.
