LAND PRESERVATION

February 17, 2006

The Trust for Public Land has purchased 208 acres of open land in east Los Angeles County for wilderness preservation, reports the Los Angeles Times. With support from the county and the California Wildlife Conservation Board, the $3.3-million purchase is part of the organization’s long-term project to close the gaps between existing parks and forests in the San Gabriel Mountains, which harbors several endangered species of wildlife.
