|
The pan-Asian cultural organization has cut 18 positions through layoffs and attrition, an 11-percent decrease in the size of its staff.

|
The symphony’s musicians are taking 5-percent pay cuts for the remainder of this season and the next, and a 3.8-percent pay cut the following season. Robert Shapiro, the symphony’s music director is taking a 7-percent pay cut this season, and a 14-percent pay cut the next season.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington
|
The youth group will close four clubs, lay off 16 percent of its staff, cut senior executives’ salaries by 10 percent, and require employees to take 26 days of unpaid time off.

Cleveland Orchestra
|
The orchestra’s music director, Franz Welser-Most, and its executive director, Gary Hanson, have volunteered to take pay cuts of 20 percent and 15 percent, respectively. Salaries of other senior managers will be cut by 10 percent, and nonunion administrative staff salaries will be trimmed by 5 percent.

Corcoran Gallery of Art and College + Design (Washington)

The art museum and college has eliminated 18 positions, a of Art 5.6-percent reduction in its work force. The institution will also suspend employer contributions to its pension plan.

Museum of Fine Arts (Boston)
|
The museum laid off 33 employees, a 4-percent reduction in the staff’s size, and will freeze salaries. Museum officials are leaving unfilled 21 vacant positions, and Malcolm Rogers, the museum’s director, and five other senior officials have taken voluntary pay cuts.

Orlando Opera (Fla.)
|
The opera company is cutting four full-time staff positions, cutting staff salaries by 5 percent, and reducing employee benefits and artists’ salaries. Jim Ireland, the opera’s president, has taken a 45-percent pay cut.

St. Paul Chamber Orchestra

The orchestra’s senior managers have taken a 15.5-percent pay cut and musicians have taken 12-percent salary cuts for the 2009-10 season, while seven staff members have been laid off.
