Learning Grant Writing by Example

January 12, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

Guide to Winning Proposals II, edited by Judith B. Margolin and Gail T. Lubin, is a collection of 31 grant applications that have elicited praise — and money — from foundations and other grant makers. The guide includes proposals requesting support to strengthen the management and operations of nonprofit groups, in addition to to financing for individual projects, new buildings and renovations, equipment, evaluation, general needs, and start-up costs. The examples, which are culled from a diverse group of nonprofit organizations, also include sample letters of inquiry, cover letters, and budgets. Feedback from grant makers is included with each proposal. In addition, the guide offers a glossary of grant-writing terms and a list of other resources available to grant seekers.
