The president of a Connecticut land trust was arrested last month and charged with marijuana possession after police found 20 marijuana plants growing on land owned by the trust, reports The New York Times.
Police removed the plants, which totaled 100 pounds, from the Litchfield Land Trust’s largest preserve on September 27.
Returning the next day, they found Nathan P. Litwin, president of the land trust, and another man carrying pieces of the plants that had broken off during the removal. They were charged with possession of marijuana and conspiracy to possess marijuana.
The vice president of the trust told the newspaper that the trust had not been aware of the plants and that Mr. Litwin denies planting the marijuana. Mr. Litwin did not comment.
