Mellon Award Goes to UCLA Professor

An English and literature professor at UCLA will use a $1.5-million award from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to continue researching the role of the Holocaust in American literature, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Eric J. Sundquist, recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award, will share the award with his university’s home campus.
The other three recipients are Richard White, a Stanford University historian, Ellen Rosand, a musicologist at Yale University, and Peter Schafer, a professor of religion and Judaic studies at Princeton University.
