Mich. Senate Passes Bill to Allow Charity Poker 365 Days a Year

The Michigan Senate has passed a bill that would allow charity poker rooms to host games 365 days a year, reports MLive.
The bill, which would require House approval, is in response to stricter regulations proposed by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, which charities have said would dramatically restrict their fundraising opportunities.
For months, the board has considered options for dealing with “millionaire parties” that allow nonprofit groups to raise funds by hosting casino-style games such as Texas Hold ‘Em and blackjack. But charities have fought back against the board’s proposed rules, which include limiting charity poker games at poker rooms and other locations to four nights a week.
The gaming control board’s proposal is scheduled to go into effect next month unless a Joint Committee on Administrative Rules acts by April 30 to stop it.
