Minneapolis Art Director Announces Resignation
March 20, 2007
Walker Art Center director Kathy Halbreich, who oversaw the design and construction of the Minneapolis institution’s $135.6-million expansion, announced Monday that she will leave in November, the Star-Tribune reports.
Ms. Halbreich ran the art center for 16 years, and under her leadership the institution’s annual budget more than doubled—$8.2-million in 1992 to $19.7-million last year. Its endowment also grew from $77-million to about $200-million. Her most recently reported compensation was $385,000.
Ms. Halbreich said she has no specific plans but that she was looking forward to at least “one more great professional love affair” in her career.
