Muslim Charities Enjoying Big Ramadan

October 23, 2006

Muslim charities in Jordan have raised a lot of money during the holiday of Ramadan, Reuters reports.

Traditionally, Muslims earn “double deeds” for good works during Ramadan, a monthlong holiday that is now coming to an end.

The wire service said the charities had benefited from an increased interest in religion that resulted from perceptions that the West was opposed to Islam.

In addition, charities were able to use technology and marketing techniques to advance their fund raising, such as running television ads and sending text messages on cell phones.
