National Public Radio Picks Katherine Maher as Next CEO

National Public Radio
Katherine Maher has been tapped as president and CEO of the public-radio network, beginning on March 25. She is currently CEO of Web Summit, and previously led the Wikimedia Foundation until 2021.
Maher will replace John Lansing, who became NPR’s leader in 2019 and is now retiring.
Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation
Flynn Andrizzi has been tapped as president and CEO. He most recently served as president of the Hoag Hospital Foundation and senior vice president for development at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, in California.
Andrizzi succeeds Susan Coulter, who has retired after 13 years.
Wallace Global Fund
Robby Rodriguez has been tapped as executive director of the $135 million grant maker for democracy and social justice. He is a philanthropic consultant and senior adviser for the McKnight Foundation’s Midwest Climate and Energy and Vibrant and Equitable Communities programs.
Rodriguez replaces Ellen Dorsey, who is stepping down after 16 years at the helm. Dorsey will remain a senior adviser there.
In addition, Allison Barlow has been promoted from director of democracy and media to deputy director.
More New CEOs
Joe Apgar has been promoted from president to CEO of Pelotonia, an organization that raises money for cancer research through its annual Columbus Ride Weekend and other events. He succeeds Doug Ulman, who will begin serving as senior adviser and vice chair of its board.
Tina Cambridge, chief operating officer at the Templeton World Charity Foundation, will now also serve as its president.
Christopher Clinton Conway, CEO of the Dr. Susan Love Fund for Breast Cancer Research, has been named CEO of the Tower Cancer Research Foundation.
Anne Patterson will be the next executive director of Day One, which offers programs to prevent dating abuse and domestic violence. Her new role starts on March 11. She is currently the deputy commissioner of community initiatives and external affairs in the New York City Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence.
Jamila Taylor, president and CEO of the National WIC Association, has been named president and CEO of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research.
Newman’s Own Foundation
The foundation started by the late Hollywood actor Paul Newman has hired three new senior leaders.
Jackie Blackbird, former global diversity and inclusion program manager at Nike, will be the foundation’s first Indigenous communities officer.
Christina Chauvenet has been named monitoring, evaluation, and learning officer. Most recently she was senior manager of research and innovation at the National WIC Association.
Emily Yu, founder of AI Priori, will now serve as chief partnerships and program officer.
Other Notable Appointments
Whitnee Boyd, director of strategic initiatives at Braver Together, has been appointed director of community impact at the North Texas Community Foundation.
Meredith Brunen, vice president for advancement at the University of West Georgia and CEO of UWG Foundations, will become vice president for advancement at Hendrix College, effective May 1.
Jasmin DeForrest has been named managing director for the Heinz Endowments’ Creativity Strategic Area. She was previously senior director for arts and culture at the Gilbert Family Foundation. (The Heinz Endowments are a financial supporter of the Chronicle.)
Shannon Duval has joined Ronald McDonald House Charities as its global chief development officer. She was most recently senior vice president and deputy chief philanthropy officer at CommonSpirit Health.
Elizabeth Field, senior executive director in the Government Accountability Office’s Defense Capabilities and Management Team, is joining the Elizabeth Dole Foundation as chief operating officer.
Anita Khashu has been promoted from senior program officer to program director for gender, racial, and ethnic justice in the United States at the Ford Foundation. In addition, Chi-hui Yang has been promoted from senior program officer for the JustFilms team to program director for creativity and free expression. Julietta Lopez has joined the Hispanic Federation as vice president of federal affairs and network mobilization. She most recently served as director of community and external affairs for Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York.
Kimberley Lubin, chief development officer at Franciscan Children’s, has been appointed chief advancement officer at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. In addition, Nathan Kuder has joined the youth-development group as chief financial officer. He was most recently chief financial officer at Boston Public Schools.
Nina Yoshida Nelsen, co-founder of the Asian Opera Alliance, has been appointed artistic director at the Boston Lyric Opera. She has worked at the opera as an artistic adviser since 2021.
Kathleen Nicely, vice president of advancement at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, has been hired as senior vice president for advancement at California Institute of the Arts.
Emily Rapp, director of government relations for biosecurity at Ginkgo Bioworks, has been appointed director of democracy programs at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute.
Departure
Scott Stewart has departed after two years as executive director of the Kaleidoscope Park Foundation, which is raising money to complete construction of an arts park in Frisco, Tex.
