The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation created two new grant programs last year to nonprofits that work with young people. It provided:

• $1.8-million to six nonprofit organizations for its Widening the Stage program. The program offers high-level musical instruction to talented, low-income musicians between ages 8 and 18.

• $2.3-million to 10 groups as part of its new Summer Enrichment program, which provides instruction to high-achieving students in grades 6 to 12. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation reports that it plans to provide $2-million for each program in 2013.
