March 22, 2006
New guidelines for hospital design, published by the nonprofit Facilities Guidelines Institute and the American Institute of Architects’ Academy of Architecture for Health, are due out next month and will for the first time require new hospitals to guarantee that all patients can have their own rooms, reports The Wall Street Journal. The guidelines are used by more than 40 state governments to set regulations, approve construction plans, and license hospitals to operate.
