New Leader Chosen for the Trust for the National Mall

Catherine Townsend, a nonprofit consultant who has also led and worked for charities, has been named president of the Trust for the National Mall, reports the Washington Business Journal. The trust, a nonprofit partner of the National Parks Service, raises money to restore the area surrounding the national monuments and Smithsonian museums in Washngton.

Ms. Townsend has been the executive director of the D.C. Public Education Fund, which raises money for academic progams for schools in Washington, and was an associate director of Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry.

Caroline Cunningham, who led the organization for eight years, announced she would step down last June.
