Children’s Defense Fund-NYC

Naomi Post was appointed executive director of the Children’s Defense Fund-NYC, one of the seven field offices of the Washington-based advocacy organization.

She was previously a senior fellow at the United Way of New York City, where she worked on the nonprofit’s partnership with the New York City Office of Community Service to expand community schools throughout the district. Ms. Post is the former head of community based programs at Atlantic Philanthropies, where she managed a portfolio of over $100 million that supported community schools and school-based health centers.

Comic Relief

Janet Scardino, chief operating officer at Saban Brands, was named chief executive.

Seasons Hospice Foundation

Gisele Crowe, vice president for advancement and chief development officer at Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, will be executive director.

Other notable changes:

Peter Bisanz, former head of development and communications at Global Knowledge Networks, was appointed executive director of the Skoll Center for Social Impact Entertainment at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Theater, Film, and Television.

Melissa Ehrenreich, executive director of the D.C. Social Innovation Project, will be director of development at the Chesapeake Conservancy.

Joyce Hendricks, vice president for development at Rutgers University Foundation, was appointed vice president and chief philanthropy officer at the Institute of International Education.

Nancy Thies, former vice president for development and marketing at Holy Cross Hospital, was appointed vice president for philanthropic services at the Community Foundation of Broward.

Departures:

Henry Beukema, executive director of the McCune Foundation, plans to step down after leading the foundation for 24 years.

Elizabeth Broun, director of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Renwick Gallery, will retire at the end of the year. She has led the museum and gallery for 24 years.
