New Leaders at the Pritzker Family and VH1 Save the Music Foundations

J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation

Janet Froetscher, former chief executive of Special Olympics International, a nonprofit that holds athletic events for people with intellectual disabilities, was named president of the J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation.

Ms. Froetscher previously held chief executive positions at the National Safety Council, which advocates for safety on the road, in the workplace, and at home, and the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, where she led the consolidation of United Ways in the area and coordinated health and human services support for Hurricane Katrina evacuees.

The Pritzker Family Foundation supports early-childhood development, health care, and civil-rights programs. In 2015, the Pritzkers gave $100 million to Northwestern University’s School of Law, which landed them on The Chronicle’s Philanthropy 50.

Coca-Cola Foundation

Helen Smith Price, executive director, was promoted to president.

Children’s Medical Center Foundation

Brent Christopher, chief executive of Communities Foundation of Texas, was appointed president.

Duke Endowment

Rhett Mabry, vice president at the Duke Endowment, will succeed Gene Cochrane as president of the foundation. Mr. Cochrane, who is retiring, led the foundation for 11 years.

Mass Insight Education

Susan Lusi, former superintendent of Providence Public Schools, was named chief executive.

National Human Services Assembly

Lee Sherman, chief executive of the Association of Jewish Family & Children’s Agencies, will be chief executive of the National Human Services Assembly and the National Assembly Business Services.

Space Center Houston

William Harris, senior vice president for development and marketing at the California Science Center Foundation, was named chief executive.

United Way Foundation of Indian River County

Michelle Malyn, chief development officer, was promoted to executive director.

University of Arizona Foundation

John-Paul Roczniak, interim president, was appointed president.

VH1 Save the Music Foundation

Henry Donahue, former chief operating officer and head of partnerships at Purpose, a company that helps organizations create advocacy campaigns, was appointed executive director.

Other notable appointments:

Paula Barbag, president and founder of Consulting for a Cause, will be director of major gifts at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital.

Brian Fair, development officer for major gifts at Physicians for Peace, will be director of resource development at Angioma Alliance.

Departure:

William Flinn, executive director of Tournament of Roses Association, will retire in 2017.

Legacy:

Richard Jacobson, founder of Jacobson Companies, a shipping and logistics company based in Des Moines, died on April 1 in Florida. He was 79. He gave several large gifts over his lifetime, including $15 million gift to the University of Northern Iowa’s College of Education in 2013. He also supported athletics facilities at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University.
