New Leaders Installed at NAACP and Association of Fundraising Professionals

NAACP
Derrick Johnson, who became interim president and CEO in July, has been installed permanently in the position. The civil-rights organization is currently preparing to transition from a charity to a social-welfare group, registered under Internal Revenue Service code 501c(4), which will enable it to take a more direct approach to influencing policies that exacerbate racial discrimination.
Before being named to the interim position, Mr. Johnson was vice chairman of the NAACP’s board and led its Mississippi State Conference.
Association of Fundraising Professionals
Mike Geiger has been chosen as its new president and chief executive officer. Previously, he served as executive director of the Chief Executives Organization. He will succeed Jason Lee, who has served as interim CEO since the departure of Andrew Watt in June 2016. Mr. Geiger starts his new job November 1.
Islamic Relief USA
Anwar Khan, who previously served as the aid organization’s fundraising manager and CEO, has been named president.
U.S. Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Ralph Middlecamp has been named national president. Mr. Middlecamp previously led the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for the District Council of Madison, Wis.

Kellie Ann Coats, the director of advancement at the University of Missouri Hospital, has been selected as executive director of the Missouri Women’s Council.
Nick Falco, the chief financial and business executive of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, has been named executive director of the American Dental Association Foundation.
Randy Guggenheimer, a managing director at Young & Partners, an investment bank in New York, has been appointed president of the Scarsdale Foundation
Eugena Oh, chief operating officer and chief governance officer, has taken the reins of the “I Have a Dream Foundation.” She will succeed Donna Lawrence, who has served as CEO since 2014.
Claudia Randall, previously the director of marketing and communications for the National Stroke Association, has become the new executive director of the Obesity Medicine Association.
Lata Reddy, vice president for corporate social responsibility at Prudential Financial, has been promoted to senior vice president of diversity, inclusion, and impact, as well as chair and president of the Prudential Foundation.
Christopher Werner has been named executive director of the Catholic Youth Organization of Detroit. He was previously CEO of Werner Media Group, in Kennesaw, Ga.
Harry Lee Williams, president of Delaware State University, will be the new president and CEO of Thurgood Marshall College Fund, effective January 20.
Legacies
Helen DeVos, who has given millions of dollars to the arts, children’s health, and Christian education, primarily in western Michigan, died October 18. She was 90. Ms. DeVos created the Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation with her husband, who was co-founder of Amway and owns the Orlando Magic. The foundation reported assets of $51.5 million in 2015, according to the most recent data available.
Russell Mawby, who served as CEO of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation from 1970 until his retirement in 1995, died October 20. He was 89. Mr. Mawby was also co-founder of the Council of Michigan Foundations and helped establish the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University.
