The National Society of Fund Raising Executives next year will have a new name and a new strategic plan.
Starting in January, the 40-year-old organization, which has more than 22,000 members, will be known as the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals.
Plans for a new logo and other changes are still being considered and will be announced by the end of the year. At that time, too, the group plans to unveil details of its new, three-year strategic plan, called “A Global Vision for Advancing Philanthropy.”
The changes are meant to better reflect the growing diversity of the organization’s members and the changing nature of philanthropy. Officials say that advances in technology and the internationalization of fund raising are two important reasons for the moves.
The society has spent more than $75,000 and nearly two years developing the changes. Both the strategic plan and the name change were approved by the group’s board last month.
