New on the Job: Lisa Nitze, Chief Executive Officer, Social Enterprise Alliance

Background: Ms. Nitze, 50, will assume her new role at the national membership organization in July, after five years at Ashoka, a charity that supports people who are developing new approaches to tackling social problems. At Ashoka, she most recently served as vice president of the global-engagement team. She has also worked on economic-development efforts in New Jersey and Maryland, and created the group Save Ellis Island.

Education: She received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in government, and a master’s degree in business administration from Stanford University.

Her agenda: To build ties between people working in the field of social enterprise and help them gain access to the money and expertise they need to grow. She also wants to better connect social entrepreneurs in North America with their counterparts around the world.

Salary: $135,000
