NEW ORLEANS CHARITIES

Charities in New Orleans are joining together in an effort to help rebuild the city and keep grant makers from turning their attention elsewhere, reports New Orleans CityBusiness. About 50 nonprofit leaders meet each week through the Unified Nonprofits of Greater New Orleans, a group formed in October to develop a unified plan. About half the city’s nonprofit groups have returned since the storm, and some groups whose offices were destroyed are now working alongside other nonprofit groups in shared spaces.
