New Website Invites Feedback on Grant Makers

May 6, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

Proponents of more transparency among foundations just made another gain: the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy today launched Philamplify, a new website that gives users a platform to provide feedback about grant-making organizations.

The committee’s officials said they started the site to provide not only a space for critique but also a place where foundations can learn from one another.

“The shared goal of most people who work in our sector is to strive for the greater good,” said Aaron Dorfman, executive director of the center, in a statement. “But doing this to the best of our ability means being open to constructive criticism.”

Philamplify will include reports about foundations and their work compiled from existing research data and invite site visitors to offer feedback and commentary and participate in polls.

Upon the site’s rollout today, the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy is releasing its assessments of the Lumina Foundation for Education, the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, and the William Penn Foundation.

The center plans to release additional reports in the coming months of the top 100 grant makers in the country.
