Background: Mr. Arrillaga co-founded Peery Arrillaga, a real-estate development firm in Palo Alto, Calif.

Mr. Arrillaga, 76, gave $151-million to Stanford University, his alma mater. The money will go toward “a variety of university projects,” according to Stanford officials. The donor earned a bachelor’s degree in geography from the university in 1960 and gave Stanford $100-million in 2006.
