No. 28: Alfred and Judy Warrington

Beneficiary: University of Florida Warrington College of Business Administration

Background: Mr. Warrington founded Sanifill, which was sold to Waste Management in 1996.

A 1958 alumnus, Mr. Warrington, pledged $75-million to the University of Florida’s business school to endow professorships, other faculty expenses, and summer graduate studies.

The 79-year-old philanthropist and his wife, Judy, 63, are longtime donors to the university. The College of Business Administration was named for them in 1996 when they gave $12-million for an endowment.
