Background: Mr. Robertson founded Tiger Management Corporation, a hedge fund in New York.

Mr. Robertson, 81, gave $50-million to his Robertson Foundation, which supports four main causes: education, environment, medical research, and religion and spirituality. He started the foundation in 1996. The foundation gave out more than $84.5-million in grants in 2011, according to its most recent 990-PF Form.


In addition, Mr. Robertson donated $9.6-million to the Tiger Foundation, which he and other Tiger Management Corporation employees established in 1990 to support needy families in New York. Since its inception, the Tiger Foundation has awarded $150-million to organizations that help New York families.

The philanthropist also gave nearly $7.4-million to other nonprofits he declined to name.
