Amount donated in 2014: $52.7-million

Beneficiaries: Arts and culture, education, and health and human-service groups.

Background: Mr. Perelman is chairman and chief executive at MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings.

Mr. Perelman pledged or gave a total of just over $52.7-million to arts and culture, education, and health and human-service groups in New York and elsewhere.

Among his donations last year were $3-million to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and $3-million to the ONE Campaign, an international advocacy nonprofit that fights poverty and preventable diseases, mainly in Africa.


The 72-year-old financier also gave $1.5-million to the Women’s Heart Alliance, a nonprofit Mr. Perelman co-founded with the singer and actress Barbra Streisand, that supports efforts to fight heart disease in women.
