Donor’s background: Mr. Bloch co-founded H&R Block, a tax-services and banking company. in Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Block, 89, pledged $32-million, of which $7-million has been paid, to the University of Missouri at Kansas City Foundation, for a new building in the Henry W. Bloch School of Management. The building will be named for Mr. Bloch and will house the business school’s graduate and executive programs. The new building is scheduled to open in 2013.
