Background: Mr. Spielberg is a filmmaker and a co-founder of DreamWorks Studios.

Mr. Spielberg, 66, pledged $30-million to the Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation to endow the organization’s work of providing health care and other types of assistance to older people who once worked in film and television.

Mr. Spielberg donates regularly to the foundation and serves on its board. The nonprofit will receive the money upon his death.
