Beneficiary: Montana State University College of Engineering

Background: Mr. Asbjornson founded AAON, a ventilation and air-conditioning manufacturer.

Mr. Asbjornson pledged $50-million to Montana State University College of Engineering for the construction of the university’s new campus and to establish a center for interdisciplinary projects. The center and the engineering college will be named for the 79-year-old donor.

Mr. Asbjornson earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the university in 1960, and in 2003 he gave $1-million to endow a scholarship program.
