Nonprofit Camps for Older People on the Rise

August 18, 2006

The number of nonprofit camps for elderly Americans is growing as more older adults need to find a way to include physical activity in their daily lives, reports the San Jose Mercury News, in California.

For example, Camp Avenidas at the Little House, in Menlo Park, Calif., provides exercise, including tai chi, yoga, and strength training, five days a week to people up to age 90. The camp also provides a special menu of healthy food and lectures on how to stay in shape.
