Nonprofit Group Buys Section of Redwood Forest

The Redwood Forest Foundation, a nonprofit conservation group in Gualala, Calif., has purchased 50,000 acres of redwood forest for $65-million and plans to use it for commercial timber harvesting while protecting the land from development, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The group plans to pay for most of the purchase through the sale of a conservation easement to the Conservation Fund, an Arlington, Va., nonprofit group.
