The National Park Foundation, based in Washington, will take over the efforts to raise money for a memorial dedicated to victims of Flight 93, reports the Associated Press.
The organization will replace the consulting firm Ketchum, which led a two-year campaign that did not meet its goal of $30-million. The company had raised only $10.4-million as of April 12.
The campaign’s new fund raisers will probably focus on directly soliciting donors across the country rather than making appeals for major gifts.
The capital campaign was begun by a partnership of groups, including relatives of the 40 passengers and crew members killed in the hijacking.
