Northern Arizona U. Receives $25-Million for Business School

May 15, 2007 | Read Time: 1 minute

Northern Arizona University’s business school, in Flagstaff, has received $25-million from William A. Franke, managing partner of Indigo Partners and former chief executive officer of America West Airlines and several other local companies, reports the university.

Mr. Franke, who did not attend the university, has ties to the city where the campus is located: He once ran the Southwest Forest Industries, which maintains its headquarters in Flagstaff, and once owned a television station in the city.

His gift will support scholarships for students from minority groups; it will also bolster ethics education and technology, and help recruit and retain talented faculty members.
