NY Arts Groups in Limbo Regarding Funds

Arts groups in New York are in limbo after the dissolution of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the agency charged with rebuilding the city’s downtown, reports The New York Times.
The groups are wondering what will happen to the remaining $7-million of the many millions of dollars in grants that the organization had put aside for culture, and who will oversee a new $50-million performing-arts center.
Deputy Mayor Daniel L. Doctoroff, however, said that while the city’s role in disbursing the funds had not yet been determined, he did not think the dissolution of the organization would have a negative impact on plans for the downtown area.
