N.Y. Man Accused of $1-Million Theft From Disability Camp

July 10, 2014 | Read Time: 1 minute

A Long Island financial planner pleaded not guilty Tuesday after being indicted on charges of stealing more than $1-million from a charity serving special-needs people, Newsday reports.

Drew Morgan, 43, of Rockville Centre, N.Y., faces up 25 years in prison if convicted of the most serious count of first-degree grand larceny, prosecutors said. He’s also charged with three counts of second-degree grand larceny. He was freed after posting a $240,000 bond.

Authorities allege Mr. Morgan stole about $1.1-million intended for Camp Anchor, a recreation program for disabled children and adults, while serving as treasurer for a fund maintained by a nonprofit that co-ran the camp. He and his lawyer declined to comment as they left court.
