October 5, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute

New York University’s Polytechnic School of Engineering will be renamed for finance executives Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon in recognition of a $100-million gift from the Manhattan couple, The Wall Street Journal reports. The university said the money would go toward faculty, financial aid, and new programs for the now NYU Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn.

Ms. Tandon, an NYU trustee, is a former partner at corporate consultant McKinsey & Co. and the founder of investment-advisory firm Tandon Capital Associates, according to a university statement. She is also a musician whose 2011 album Soul Call was nominated for a Grammy Award. Mr. Tandon, an engineer by training, chairs hedge fund Libra Advisors. They have challenged the school to raise an additional $50 million for scholarships.
