January 24, 2006
The philanthropist Andrea Bronfman, wife of former Seagrams chairman Charles Bronfman, was killed this week in a traffic accident in New York, reports the Canadian Press. She was 60. The Bronfmans were well-known for their support of Jewish causes and arts organizations. After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Mrs. Bronfman founded the Gift of New York, a nonprofit effort to provide free admission to New York’s cultural and sports venues to the families of the victims.
