OBITUARY: ELI J. SEGAL

Eli J. Segal, who designed the AmeriCorps and the Welfare to Work Partnership programs, died on Monday at his home in Boston, reports The Boston Globe. He was 63. Mr. Segal served as campaign chief of staff to Bill Clinton in 1992. He had suffered from mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, his family said.
