OBITUARY: MARY BARDEN KEEGAN
March 16, 2006
Mary Barden Keegan, the founder of Houston’s End Hunger Network, has died at the age of 84, reports the Los Angeles Times. After establishing the group in 1985, Ms. Keegan devised its signature food-gathering tool: placing red oil barrels in grocery stores to make it easy for people to donate food. The charity estimates it serves 3.2 million meals a year to about 500,000 people.
