A new Web site allows “progressive” activists to plan their protest schedules on line.
Protest.Net provides information on demonstrations around the world, with more than 100 events listed so far. The section for the United States is divided up into regions. By clicking on the Southwest, for example, viewers can find out about the “Help Defend Ward Valley” protest on August 16 in Needles, Cal. The purpose of this demonstration is to keep a dumping ground for radioactive waste from being constructed in the area.
Protest.Net allows visitors to add information about a forthcoming protest so that it is posted immediately on line. They also can automatically forward details about a demonstration to someone else via e-mail.
