On-Line Forum Focuses on Universal Internet Access

May 7, 1998 | Read Time: 1 minute

Over the next two weeks, the John and Mary R. Markle Foundation will be sponsoring an on-line discussion, “Universal Access Conversation: Building a Networked Nation on the Global Internet.” The conversation is part of the New York grant maker’s effort to insure that everyone has access to the Internet.

The forum was scheduled to begin on May 4. It will feature both a moderated e-mail discussion list and a World-Wide Web site with information on issues related to universal access.

The e-mail discussion will focus on four subject areas related to Internet access. On May 11 and 12, for example, the discussion will be about “Networking Communities.” Questions for possible examination include, “Is your neighborhood, school, town, state, or country one of the most ‘wired’ places on earth? Please share your insight on what has made your area’s effort a success.”

To get there: Using World-Wide Web software, type http://www.iaginteractive.com/emfa.

To subscribe: Send an e-mail message to majordomo@publicus.net, and in the body of the message type “subscribe emfa-event.”
