Online Auction Site Urges Users to Donate

May 15, 2008 | Read Time: 1 minute

EBay and its corporate foundation have started the Community Gives campaign to encourage people who use the auction site to donate to three charities — and to start things off, the foundation has made a $1-million grant to be shared by the groups.

EBay users can make a gift either by donating the proceeds of an item they sell on Giving Works, the company’s charity auction site, or by making a cash contribution via PayPal. Both companies are waiving all donation-related fees. For every donation made through June 21, the eBay Foundation will donate an additional dollar.
