Online Giving Up 14% to $325-Million in 2013, Study Says

A new report on Internet giving to major nonprofit groups found online donations totaled nearly $325-million last year, a 14 percent increase from 2012, according to tech-news site Mashable.

The eNonprofit Benchmarks study by the Nonprofit Technology Network and M+R, which provides strategic services for charities, measured online advocacy and fundraising by 53 large organizations, including the Sierra Club, Feeding America, and Planned Parenthood.

According to the analysis, the number of gifts also rose by 14 percent to 5.5 million in 2013, with the average donation growing from $60 to $68. The assessed groups saw their website traffic grow by 16 percent, and their number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers swelled by an average of 37 percent and 46 percent, respectively.
