ONLINE GIVING

December 30, 2005

As more people give online, some Web sites run by nonprofit groups, including Networkforgood.org and Justgive.org, connect donors to local charities through a search engine that categorizes organizations by cause, name, and ZIP code, reports The Wall Street Journal. Network for Good, in Bethesda, Md., processed $30-million in donations this year and Just Give, based in San Francisco, channeled $18-million to charities. Both Web sites cover their costs by deducting a 3-percent fee from each donation they process. (A paid subscription is required to view this article.)
