Oxfam Aims Nepal Appeal at Big N.Y. ‘Net Conference

May 15, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute

With Nepal reeling from another major earthquake, Oxfam America is looking to maximize relief giving with mobile advertisements targeting some 50,000 digital-savvy participants at New York tech gathering next week, Mashable writes.

The aid charity partnered with xAd, which specializes in location-based advertising, to develop spots targeting people at or near Internet Week New York venues during the May 18-24 event.

Clicking on the ad will send users to a mobile-optimized page with additional information on Oxfam America’s Nepal efforts and an opportunity to donate to its on-the-ground work in the Asian country, which was struck Tuesday with a magnitude 7.3 aftershock of last month’s devastating quake. The partnership was initiated by xAd, which approached Oxfam to offer its ad platform for the pro bono campaign.
