American Red Cross of Greater Chicago: Announced the retirement of William L. Braden, chief executive officer, effective at the end of September. Mr. Braden has served in that position for 18 years.
ARC-Greenwich (Conn.): Appointed David C. Schlakman, a principal at the Gantry Group (Concord, Mass.), to be director of development and communications. This organization provides employment and residential services, youth programs, and vocational training to disabled people.
Arthritis Foundation, New Jersey Chapter (Iselin): Appointed Lorna Krkich, executive director of the American Diabetes Association’s Northern New Jersey area (Somerset), to be president. She succeeds Dennis Hirschfelder, who retired in May.

Rockefeller Brothers Fund (New York): Announced the death of Laurance S. Rockefeller, co-founder and president from 1958 to 1968. Mr. Rockefeller died in New York on July 11 at age 94.
Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade County (Miami): Appointed Jennifer Lee Tisthammer, founder of J. Lee & Associates (Miami), a consulting firm, to be executive director.
Woods Fund of Chicago: Appointed Deborah Harrington, program director, to be vice president.
